Meet-Up September 5

The Ryerson City Building Institute is proud to present a new meet-up intended to inspire, educate and spark action, on Wednesday, September 5th.

Toronto’s Streets at a Crossroads is a discussion of the road safety crisis that has led to the death of nearly 100 pedestrians and cyclists since the city’s Vision Zero Road Safety Plan was announced. Panelists Gil Penalosa (8 80 Cities), Liliana Quintero (City of Vancouver), Mike Layton (Toronto City Council Candidate), Anne Harris (Ryerson University), Raktim Mitra (Ryerson University), Nancy Smith Lea (Toronto Centre for Active Transportation) and a TBA panelist from New York City will advance ideas to enhance infrastructure, enforcement and education, and deliver on Toronto’s Vision Zero commitments, moderated by Steve Paikin (TVO’s The Agenda).

“Since Toronto adopted its Vision Zero road safety plan in 2017 we have seen pedestrian and cyclist injuries and deaths continue. This is unacceptable—especially when life-saving solutions exist. Our event convenes experts for a dynamic discussion that we hope will set in motion real change on this issue,” said Cherise Burda, Executive Director of the Ryerson City Building Institute.

The event is free to the public, but registration is required. Hurry–our meet-ups fill up fast.
