On May 2nd, 2019, the Ontario government released Bill 108, related to the Housing Supply Action Plan. In submitting our detailed comments on the bill, on May 30, we added our name to the growing list of organizations that oppose the bill, its focus on unfettered development across Ontario and its short-sighted impact on the environment, endangered species, parks and livability.

Bill 108 and the Housing Supply Action Plan cut costs for developers without ensuring savings are passed on to homebuyers and renters. Also, by reducing charges paid by developers to cities and towns to pay for growth, Bill 108 will result in budget shortfalls related to transit, affordable housing and community services–and the download of yet more costs to municipal taxpayers.
